Tracking upcoming, implemented and ditched features separated from other issues will make your development more feature-centric relieving issue trackers at the same   time for... well issues and bugs mostly. The origin of this idea is taken from my own development experience, where focusing on implementing features implies code review, which in turn results in fixing bugs on the way.
